Ipswich Borough Council currently has two exciting opportunities for suitably qualified and experienced Lawyers. We are seeking applications from Lawyers who have a specialism in Planning and Property law to join our dynamic and growing team.

Day to day
The focus of this role is to provide property transactional work in support of development, asset management and housing teams within the Council. The role will involve supporting the Council in increasing income from land, property investment, major projects and Council priorities, as well as a caseload consisting of commercial and residential property transactions. Good drafting skills are essential.
The successful candidate will ensure all complex legal property enquiries received are effectively resolved. They will have a dynamic approach to work and be keen to apply their proven skills to support the Council's services.
Planning and regeneration expertise to enable the Council to benefit from its numerous business, commercial and residential development opportunities. As a Planning Lawyer, you will carry a varied caseload which will include drafting, negotiating and settling S106 agreements, case management of planning appeals and advising on planning enforcement notices and officer reports.
The successful candidate will ensure all complex legal planning enquiries received are effectively resolved. They will have a dynamic approach to work and be keen to apply their proven skills to support the Council's services.
It is essential that you are familiar with current law, practice and procedure which is evidenced by at least two years' experience. You will need an appetite for change and competency to cope with a fast moving environment.
You will have strong advisory skills and competence with IT and case management systems. In addition, you will have an enabling, positive approach to finding solutions to complex problems, good appreciation of risk management and work flexibly across a multi skilled team supporting colleagues regardless of specialty.
