Solicitor - Melton Borough Council
£30,756 to £33,136
With a new Chief Executive and Management Team in place, Melton Borough Council is facing the future with renewed vigor and confidence.
As one of the smaller borough councils, Melton has always punched above its weight, and we are ambitious to further enhance the quality of life for everyone in the borough and create sustainable, prosperous and vibrant communities.
Following a review of the legal service, we are now looking to appoint a Solicitor to help drive forward the work of the newly formed Legal and Democratic Directorate and play a lead role in developing the Council's commercial and place shaping aspirations.
This is a new post created following the decision to bring back in house a previously shared legal service. You will be joining a newly formed team to carry out legal work, provide legal advice to and take legal action on behalf of the Council and its service areas across all the legal functions.
The role would suit a newly qualified looking to develop a career in local government. You will be driven and self motivated so that you can complete work to deadlines, independently while also being integral to the team. As we look to modernise as a council, being flexible and innovative will be one of your key strengths.
Melton resides in the beautiful Leicestershire countryside. Its town centre Melton Mowbray, is a quintessential English market town built on a strong tradition of farming. Renowned for its fine food and drink, the borough has become the centre of excellence for local food producers. The town itself is steeped in history and together with the surrounding area has much to offer all those that choose to live, work or visit here.
At Melton Council, we are firmly committed to promoting a vibrant and sustainable economy, focused on growth and prosperity. Working for us, you will find a great sense of community in which we work together towards achieving the council's shared objectives and which ensures our customers are at the heart of everything we do. You'll also enjoy an excellent range of benefits and family friendly working policies. These include flexi time with no core hours, agile working arrangements which enables multi-site and home working, generous leave entitlement, a full week off at Christmas, Local Authority Pension Scheme and a clear commitment to your continued professional development.
