Coronavirus has most definitely arrived in the UK, with social distancing taking effect in towns and workplaces across the country. As it's highly unlikely that the threat of coronavirus is going to disappear any time soon, local authorities will experience various challenges when it comes to managing the situation. In this webinar, Rebecca McGuirk, Employment Partner at Trowers & Hamlins LLP, discusses the key considerations that Councils need to consider in relation to their staff as the epidemic takes hold including communication, absenteeism, sick-pay and workplace closures. Louis is a commercial contracts lawyer with a particular specialism in complex procurements. Louis acts for clients in both the public and private sectors on procurement, outsourcing and service delivery restructuring across a range of sectors including leisure, digital technology, alternative delivery models and public sector commercialisation. Louis is also an expert on Local Authority governance having worked in-house at a local authority, including acting as Deputy Monitoring Officer.

Rebecca has specialised in employment law for 20 years and acts for a wide range of clients including those in the public, private and third sector. She has particular experience of advising on TUPE; large scale redundancies and new restructures; changing terms and conditions of employment; dealing with unions; equal pay issues; regulatory issues such as HMRC and senior executive departures. Rebecca regularly advises and represents clients in respect of employment tribunal claims and has recently dealt with complex claims involving whistleblowing and discrimination.
