LLG President, Quentin Baker, Objects to Law Society Council Seat Reduction.Publish date: 08/10/2020
I have written to the President of the Law Society and Council Seat Members today to strongly object to proposals to halve local government lawyer representation on the Law Society Council.
In the letter I make the point that it is with regret I have to say that our members feel this is yet another example of solicitors in local government being treated as in some way less deserving than solicitors from other sectors, and a throwback to times and attitudes which we had hoped had been consigned to history. There is a strong sense of injustice at the lack of rationale applied to the reduction in seats with no clear sense of how the process has been adequately thought through or determined.
The recommendations will be considered at the Law Society's AGM on 14th October 2020 at 2.30pm. Registrations are required 24 hours in advance in order to be validated and your SRA number will be required.
