A brand new tailored MSc in Local Government Legal Professional Leadership has now launched with the University of Northumbria and LLG are offering a 3K Bursary to help fund this course. "For far too long, criminals or those with poor track records have been able to exploit licensing authority inconsistencies and obtain a taxi licence. On 3 July 2018, a Bill to amend the Mental Capacity Act ("the Bill") was introduced into the House of Lords for a first reading. This is likely to have a significant impact on healthcare providers in the public and private sectors, as well as on commissioners in health and social care. The detail still has some way to go before it gets to the statute book, but Ruth Atkinson-Wilks looks at the overarching themes that are going to feature most prominently.

LLG have collaborated with the Institute of Licensing who today launched guidance on determining the suitability of applicants and licensees in the hackney and private hire trades. Tim Briton the SAA National Lead for Litigation and Stephen Turner for Licensing have spent considerable time feeding into this guidance to ensure operators and owners of hackney and private hire vehicles are 'safe and suitable' across all local authorities.
