Monitoring Officer - Slough Borough Council

Closing date

13/05/2021

Salary

£70,258 - £78,268 per annum fully inclusive

Job description

This is an exciting time to join Slough Borough Council. The organisation has recently concluded a consultation exercise on its new operating model and staffing structure and is now in the process of implementing the new model. As part of this new model, a new standalone Monitoring Officer role has been created; Slough Borough Council recognises the importance of good governance and this post reflects its commitment to continuous improvement of our governance environment.

This is a critically important role in the Council's leadership team and at the heart of our decision-making environment. With a highly focused remit (this post does not initially line manage staff, although it holds responsibility for the Council's external Legal Services contract) you will be able to give undivided attention to the responsibilities of the statutory post of Monitoring Officer, including championing good governance day-to-day and leading the continued transformation and improvement of the Council's governance framework. Slough Borough Council is implementing the action plan associated with an LGA Peer Review which took place before the pandemic and this appointment is part of that action plan. The Council is very focused on ensuring there is robust governance in place. This role requires a flexible and highly efficient senior leader with deep experience of the field and a track record of transforming culture as well as behaviours and processes.

For an informal discussion about the post please contact Josie Wragg, Chief Executive, on josie.wragg@slough.gov.uk

Closing date for applications: 5pm on Thursday 13 May 2021.

Interview will be held week commencing 14 June 2021.

We particularly encourage applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Candidates as they are currently under-represented in leadership positions.
