We are looking for Lawyers and Senior Lawyers to join nplaw, Norfolk County Council's award-winning shared legal service, to provide advice and representation to local authorities and public bodies across England and Wales.

nplaw is a public sector shared legal service with a wealth of experience gained through many years of advising our clients in local government, the public sector, charities and schools. We provide a wide range of legal services, delivered by specialist lawyers who understand the local government context. Working for the benefit of the public is at the heart of our culture. We have recently reorganised our teams and now wish to expand them and we're looking for lawyers with specialist knowledge of child protection, property or contracts and commercial law to help us deliver our broad portfolio of services.

The roles themselves will involve delivering comprehensive professional legal advice to clients. You will need to be comfortable negotiating with clients and other professionals to secure agreed objectives and the child protection role also requires you to undertake advocacy. All the roles will involve managing a portfolio of your own cases. As a Senior Lawyer you will have the additional responsibility for line managing team members, providing support and guidance and helping them to develop their skills. You'll have the opportunity to work on a broad range of cases and will be able to develop your specialism with the support of the experienced team around you.

To be considered for the role of Lawyer or Senior Lawyer, you'll need to be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or FCILEx, with membership of the relevant professional body. We would like you to have demonstrable experience in client relationship management, and exceptional relationship building, networking and influencing skills. For the child protection posts, we are looking for candidates with advocacy experience or a willingness to learn. For the Senior Lawyer roles, you will also need several years' post qualification experience, plus experience of managing and mentoring team members.

We know we're asking for a lot, but in return we think we have a lot to offer. There's the role itself where you'll have variety in what you do, challenging and high-impact cases to work on, and the opportunity to work for the benefit of the wider public. Then there's the working environment at nplaw, where we put work life balance at the forefront and offer flexible, smarter working arrangements, all underpinned by leading edge technology. Our employees' well-being is a really high priority for us and we provide you with a buddy who can guide you through the new starter process, we have trained mental health first aiders and an employee helpline and counselling service to support our staff. There's also our physical environment here in Norfolk, where you will be surrounded by a unique blend of beaches, broads, countryside and culture, which we think is hard to beat!

We might be biased, but we think it's a great role in a great place. If you're still reading, and you think you have what it takes, we would love to hear from you.

All our office-based roles are currently working from home as part of our Smarter Working plans and to support the health and safety of all our colleagues. We anticipate that working remotely will be a key feature of this role and when offices re-open your office base will be County Hall, Norwich. Our technology platform and equipment are first class, enabling you to connect and collaborate remotely. We ask that you have in place good Broadband connectivity.
